About this songbird...
Why Songbird Postpartum? Well, I began my career in childcare as a bit of a fluke while I was a young actor in New York pursuing musical theater and singing my little heart out. It's a bit of a trope that if you're an actor in you either wait tables, or you nanny...... and I was terrible at waiting tables! So, this songbird decided to give the nanny thing a try. I soon discovered that I loved working with children, especially newborns, and their families. Little did I know at the time that this love would blossom into a career of 10+ years. ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
I first discovered the world of postpartum doula care in 2021, while working as a nanny alongside a doula. Until then, I had no idea such a role even existed—but the idea of supporting families through the tender postpartum period immediately resonated with me. The need felt deeply personal after one of my closest friends went through a traumatic birth and postpartum experience. Watching her struggle—and feeling helpless in knowing how to truly support her—lit a fire in me. I knew I wanted to devote my work to making sure no new parent feels alone in this transition.
